<< Knight Rider will ride again. David Hasselhoff is planning to bring his 1980s hit into the 21st century.

The former Baywatch hunk recently told Entertainment Weekly that Michael Knight is coming out of retirement, hiring a couple of kids, and bringing an updated version of Kitt the talking car back to battle criminals.

"I'll be the older, cool boss who oversees this incredibly updated car," he said.

The original voice of Kitt, Screen Actors Guild President William Daniels, has already committed to the project. His credits also include portraying a teacher on Boy Meets World and an acerbic doctor on St. Elsewhere.

I am not kidding at all....

You have MADE MY DAY!!!!

KITT (Knight Industries Two Thousand) was awesome. If I'm not mistaken, it was "Mr. Feeny" who was the voice from "Boy Meets World."

Aaaahahaha, I remember this one episode of Knight Rider where Hasselhoff went down to Texas to scope out some baddies... and he was supposed to be playing this cowboy country/western type. So, this is the best part, he gets a WalMart felt cowboy hat, some cheap cockroach-killer cowboy boots, and wears the same Members-only jacket and pleather slacks that he always did!

I don't know if anyone else remembers this certain episode, but thinking about it right now makes me laugh my ass off.

I seem to remember that episode. I couldn't tell you the details though. You must have been a real fan.

daveman: I was as a child, when the original series was on... think I was 10 or 11.

Anyway, that particular scene I remember from catching the show on USA when they were showing a re-runs a couple of years ago.

bigsmooth - probably a WS6 Firebird. (It would make sense that they would stick with a Firebird, err Trans-Am if you wanna get technical)

I loved this show as a kid (along with Air Wolf) - I remember getting a Matchbox Firebird car just like the one on the tv show once, and I played with that all day and night for like 3 years.

Remember the show "Viper"? Same thing, different car, basically. The coolest part was when the convertible viper morphed into the coupe to fight crime :D

Apparently, that was about it, cause the show got cancled after one season (give or take) and went straight to cable. There was a cheesy knock off later on, but not as good as the original. (not that it was good, it was just fun to watch)

For some reason I have this weird vision of The Fast and the Furious...you see a bunch of punks racing and suddenly Kitt comes out of nowhere and not only smokes them...then guns them down....

I figured they'd use a Firebird, but what happens if the show manages to last a few seasons?

I loved the original Knight Rider but they did a comeback show which the name as of now has slipped my mind but I believe it was a red Firebird ....... something-2001-something & that show sucked goose balls !

Looking forward to the new show .

big - if I recall right, the original Kitt was the same model year car throughout the whole show. Even though GM is axing the Firebird, why would they need/want to update it?

That's true, I guess the car stayed the same throughout the old series. It's just that nowadays in this damned Internet age everyone wants the newest thing that's available at all times. ;)

You know, a guy my older sister is good friends with has a buddy who collects all of these old movie cars. He takes them around to auto shows, what have you, and displays them. He's got KITT :D.

Not to mention a Batmobile (sister has pictures of it), an R2D2, and a General Lee, to name a few.

I'd get you all pics of KITT, but its one of those "friend of a friend of a friend" things that'd be difficult to arrange. My sister got pics of the batmobile cause he happened to be taking it near where she lived and he stopped by with the trailer. I guess they drove it out of the trailer at her apartment so she could get some pictures, and taffic STOPPED. She got a couple photos, and he loaded it right back up so he didn't draw crowd of gawkers.

Anyone remember that Knight Rider movie with Hasselhoff and all? Takes place quite a bit in the future - Devon dies in it. :(

This series will probably suck, but it brings back great memories. :)
