So my right knee has been hurting me quite a bit. If it is completely extended or completely bent does it hurts really bad. If I go from a completely bent state slowly to a completely extended state while applying pressure to the cap, it feels like there is gravel in there, or like the knee cap is scraping across a gravely surface. Does that make sense? My other knee makes a smooth transition, doesn't hurt at all.
My wife nagged me enough so I made a Doctor's appointment for tomorrow. She thinks it could be torn cartilage (meniscus) which would require some surgery and about 3 months of near inactivity, which is an impossibility.
Anyone have any knee pain/surgery stories to share? What was wrong and how long you were unable to go to work? My job constists of mainly sitting behind a desk anyway...
UPDATE Looks like I have Patellofemoral Syndrome which is pretty common. A knee brace, strengthening my inner thigh muscles, and diclofenac (anti-inflammatory) should help. Doc said I could have surgery to correct it, but the surgery would need to be repeated about every 10 years or so. Guess I'll just have to live with it, just like GERD.
