Hey I was wondering if anyone else has some ideas - I think I'm looking at an RMA here...
I bought the following from Newegg:
ABIT KN8 Ultra Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ 1GHz FSB Socket 939 Dual Core Processor Model ADA3800BVBOX - Retail
CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered Dual Channel Kit System Memory Model VS1GBKIT400 - Retail
The above was placed in an existing ATX case with a 430W CoolerMaster PS.
After installation and upon initial power on, ALL fans spun up EXCEPT the CPU fan :Q
I reseated the CPU fan connector and no joy. Powered off within 15 seconds then moved the CPU fan connector to the system (case) fan connector. Moved the system fan connector to the CPU fan connector....powered up and then....
The CPU fan spins up as expected, the case fan DOES NOT spin up. Obviously both fans are OK. There is no voltage (apparently) coming from the CPU fan connector. For the hell of it I cleared the CMOS and still no joy. Pulled all cards and RAM and still no beeps.
I have a POST code card and got all zeros (0000) which, to me, indicates that the board is not getting past the CPU test.
Do I have a bad board or bad CPU ?
I'd love to hear some opinions.
Thanks,
Phil
