KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED...anyone know what this means in win2k?

hey all, the title says it all. i was surfin then all of sudden a blue screen. kind of confusing but....maybe one of you know what this is.

Well it's pretty vauge but a lot of times it means there was some sort of hardware problem. I.E., ram or processor overclocked etc. Usually there is a file attached to the end of the statement. If it's associated with a device you can start there (e100b.sys- intel nic). Most of the time it'll be ntoskrnl.exe or some such.

IRQ_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED is another big one like this.

it happens to me when my system get too hot. or i have bad ram or cpu

Is it a stop error (It's called BSOD in Win9x)?

you get it when you overclock too much..
May be because of some other reasons too..

i also had the IRQ__NOT_LESS_EQUAL thingy as well.... the thing is im not OC'ing. it only happens on egay...which may totally be coincidence. not sure. im thining it might be the highpoint contrller conflicting with my nic...not sure yet..and i forgot to see exactly which driver or hardware was causing it. thanx for all of your replies, and if you guys think of anything else out of the ordinary, please post.

edit...it just happened again....and it gave me the kmode_exception thingy and it said it was in win32k.sys. not sure if that helps to anyone here but thanx anyways.

I would try a re-install, even straight over, or i would think it is a hardware prob, what are the computer specs:Q🙂😉

Try another graphic card driver.

there really isnt another driver for my card in win2k. win2k just uses a vodoo banshee driver for it...diamond doesnt make a win2k driver for this card so i guess im sol on the vid driver issue. thanx anyways....im gonna try the latest bios WZ and latest highpoitn drivers and see if that does anything.
