KMART closing 300 more Stores

I knew this was coming.

One of their problems is that the lease many of their buildings that they operate out of. They do actually pay many of their employees a very nice wage, much more than walmart.

Another problem is that the stores look like they are stuck in the 80's with the stores not being updated and the store is just dirty.

During the last closing they had some pretty decent deals at the end. But 40,000 people (20,000 this time and 20,000 last time) losing jobs just doesn't seem right.🙁

K-Mart deserves to die. Most of their stores are crappy. Idiot employees. Check out lines way too long. Their merchandise is much crappier than Target or Wal-Mart. They were way too late trying to update their old tired image and merchandise selection. Unfortunately, there is one next to where I work so I stop in occasionally and it's always a mistake.

There is Shopco, Kmart, Target, and Walmart around where I live. The loss of one of those stores will not give full control to Walmart like suggested above. Of all those stores, Kmart is by far the most cluttered, most dirty, has the least selection, has the longest lines, and has the highest prices. I'd be just fine if Kmart leaves.

Their stores suck. Plain and simple. They did nothing to correct the problem since they filed bankruptcy. Our local kmart is still a mess. Its rare you will find an advertised sale item, and half of the products in the store do not have prices on them. Its a pain in the butt to shop there. The only reason they get my business is because the local walmart is always so crowded and they only have 4 checkout lines open.

I just don't understand this thinking. Should Kmart stay open just for the sake of the employees? If a company can't make it, it can't make it. These people will find new jobs, just like most others.

Obviously, but my POINT is that some of the workers have KMART as a serious job not just as a filler. They have invested many years to the job, so they are not only losing a job they are losing seniority and the things that come along with it.

I don't like Kmart for 1 reason. When I shop there, I can't find prices on half of the items I want to buy. I went to one of their stores and was looking at laundry detergent....the whole isle had 2 prices for about 40 different products. I don't have time to take each one to the cust. service desk.... I expect many of Kmart's locations to fail due to poor management.

dam that slave driving Walmart will gain even more ground, i worked for those bastages for 2 summers, they work you like a dog and treat you like....... well something treated worst then a dog

It's a shame for their employees that they have to close. But, Kmart has been badly run for decades. Walmart has better prices and service, even though I don't think they are great I would rather shop there than Kmart. Target is a nice store with good service, but they are more expensive than the two *marts. It just goes to show you get what you pay for.

I think he was referring to your choice of words. I also find them particularly pitiful and inept. But that's just my opinion 😀

Good, the one in my home town is closing. Its about time. Maybe it will give the city council a swift kick in the ass, and let other companies move in. They blocked Lowes and Home Depot from here. And theres nothing else besides a Kmart.

Kmart still have 1200 or so stores left, after the closings of these.
