KM400 IGP Unichrome

yeah i got a buddie that has a KM400 unichrome IGP, and after an hour or so of gaming, the computer/game will freeze up. he's tried updating direct x, updating drivers. the next step im gonna suggest to him is format and reinstall. can i get some help for em?

Just get a separate video card. ANY separate video card will work better than the KM400, and the rest of the system will perform better as well. Here's a $27 card that will be an improvement:

what are his temps?

what kind of power supply does he have?

have you run memtest86?

have you run prime 95?

havent run prime95 due to the fact that he doesnt really know computers all that well, nor memtest86. its like a compaq computer, so its probly got some cheaper end psu, im not in front of the computer because he's in cali, and im in ny. his cpu temp i just found out, is extremely high. in the low 60's i told em to clean his comp but i guess that didnt help, im thinkin it could be that he is overheating, its a desktop athlon xp 3000 barton. his computer has some automatic temperature control that only engages at high temperatures, im tellin em to go into his bios and turn it so his cpu fan is on all the time. its not exactly easy doing this kinda stuff remotely so im tryin to keep it simple and something he can understand. i told em to get a cheaper agp card till the next generation of pci-e cards come out, he's lookin at a 9800 pro for 135 on newegg with a arctic cooling heasink/fan on it. i figure thats a pretty good deal for it. he's only 15 goin on 16 and not exactly computer savy.
