Kludge Up USB 3.0 Internal Connection???

I purchased a nice USB 3.0 card reader, figuring it would be a lot faster than my old 2.0 guy. To my disgust, it turned out to be an internal connection. I'm usually pretty good about reading product descriptions, but ya' can't win 'em all.

My Intel DH67CF MITX board only has an internal USB 2.0 port. This H67 system is plenty fast, and while my next desktop machine will surely have internal USB 3.0 header or headers, making it convenient to use this new guy, I'm not really anxious to build a new machine right now.

The single card slot on the motherboard is in use for a video card (because the inbuilt 2500 video failed a few months ago.)

Are there any options for bailing me out of this minor mess? The MB has two USB3.0 ports on the backplane, and I have several spare SATA connections on the MB. I usually have the skins off the case, so I don't mind a dangling cable connecting to the MB.

Do "they" make a product / adaptor that can solve this connection issue?

Do you need all the various card ports? If you primarily use SD, then Anker makes a good little USB 3.0 reader. http://www.ianker.com/product/68UNMCRD-B2U

It is much faster and more stable than my old 2.0 reader. If you do need various slots, this might work, but I haven't used this model: http://www.ianker.com/product/68UPCRDIO-B4U

As for an adapter cable, I can't see why one wouldn't work, but I would use at your own risk. You can get anything to anything with ebay cables, but I blew up an input on my tv once using a questionable VGA to RCA adapter.

Interesting - does anyone have an idea whether the thing will work in reverse??? It's intended for to feed two standard USB 3.0 connections from an internal USB port. I could use it the opposite way - feeding a dangling internal port from the two existing USB 3.0 connections on the backplane. I don't have a feel for the electrical characteristics of the USB interface.
It isn't reverse. That is the direction it is intended to be used. It should work.

Not trying to be argumentative - appreciate everyone's input! - but I do, in fact, need to use this in reverse. It's intended for motherboards with a USB 3.0 port but a case with no USB3.0 external jacks: "This cable adapter transforms USB3.0 19-pin internal motherboard connector to two USB 3.0 type A male ports".

I'm exactly the opposite. I have the two USB 3.0 female jacks on my computer, so I'd be plugging in the two male plugs of the adapter and using the 19 pin other end for the plug of my new USB 3.0 card reader.

For a lousy seven bucks, guess I can risk it!

In all honesty, it might just be worth paying the cost of return shipping and buying a device that will work with your setup. You'll probably end up paying the same or more for a cable/adapter that will work with what your have now.
