So, I've had a home stereo planned for tv use for year and never hooked it up.
Once I saw a deal on an $1800 Yamaha YSP-4100 soundbar for ~$900 and it sounded very neat so I got it. Then it was stolen in a burglary before being opened.
Anyway, I'm about to get a new tv, and made the mistake of glancing at Woot and they had this Klipsch soundbar.
I quickly googled on it, tick tock because it's woot, and saw that it had been reviewed at its list price of $800; the 'going price' on sale now is $379, and Woot has it for $259.
The review were generally positive - lots of praise and some criticism. Tech Radar gave it a 'top in class' award or something below their favorite but saying best for some purposes (they loved the bass).
I wasn't gonna get it. I'll hook up the home theater dammit.
But I realized, I don't like the idea of watching people on the screen talk and hearing their voices from big speakers somewhere else. It hurts the immersion. I like their voices coming from their faces.
And so, tick tock, I ordered it.
I hate Woot. But whaddya think? It seems like it'll be a big improvement, which is important, to the tv speakers, avoid the 'ventriloquist' issue of using a home theater.
It's not as good quality as I'd get researching more - I saw other soundbars with better sound quality - but they are about $600 and up. This seems like a pretty good compromise. Some people love it.
Whaddya think. Not that I could return it being woot, anyway, but...
