they're the same thing except with the new control pod amp thing right? so you could just get the promedia v.2-400 at outpost or something, then just get the pod at klipsch and it'd be a promedia 4.1? im just asking because since they arent selling the v.2-400 at the klipsch site anymore, i dontk now if i should wait for the 4.1 or just buy the two at the same time, since they're the same price

Uhhh the v.2-400 is the same thing as the 4.1 Your confused i think. I believe its the 2.1's that have the new amp. I heard that 4.1 owners will be able to get an upgrade amp or something?

the new "cleaner" preamp, and they changed the crossovers on the sats (so the mids should sound better like the 2.1's).

The preamp doesn't change the mids. The new crossover in the speakers do.
There is going to be a new 4.1 set with the updated crossover.

There is a new 4.1 setup from Klipsch. It is not for sale yet, but they have it on their site. It is the same as the V2-400, but with the new preamp. The new set is called the Promedia 4.1, and the price is $50 more, because of the new preamp. The new 4.1's are here.

<< Can't imagine what that sounds like having (2) of these kickass subs! >>

It would sound like a huge marketting gimmick and a rip off ;)
With the 4.1s all the bass from the front and rear channels get used anyways, so it's not like you are losing rear bass. And bass in fairly non-directional, the huamn ear isn't capable of associating direction with very low frequencies. If you happen to get bass blasting in the front and rear at the exact same time it would probably get a bit louder...but in most cases you'll have an explosion in front of you or behind you, so only sub will really fire, and since you can't really directionalize bass it won't really matter to you.
You might get a little more direction...I don't think the Sats can go low enough to get past the threshhold where you can't directionalize the sound...but for the most part the 2nd sub would not be of a huge amount of use. Cool for bragging rights...but that's about it. If you consider that in home theatre setups you just take the sub and chuck it behind a couch or in a corner or something....it's because you can't tell which direction it's coming from.

It's nice to see them working on the mid range on the ProMedia's, that has always been my biggest gripe with the ProMedias is that the midrange was weak....

Now, if only they'll come out with a 5.1 set with an external AC-3 decode ;)

The 4.2's would not sound much better than the 4.1's would. It is just two sets of 2.1's and they have lower wattage than the 4.1's do. The 4.1 satellites get 60W rms each and the sub gets 160W rms. The 2.1's get 35W rms each and the sub only gets 130W rms. Also, the 4.1 sub has two 6.5" drivers, and the 2.1's only have one. As far as two amps making a difference, they surely do. I have two sets of 4.1's and the second sub adds alot of bass that was not there before. I find I keep both sub controls lower than I used to with just one sub because the pair work together well and the bass is even harder without getting too boomy.

And the Klipsch do have midrange, it's just a different sounding one than most other speakers. This has been debated endlessly though....
