Are the newer GMX series better than the older non-GMX series?

im considering between GMX A2.1 speaker system vs ProMedia 4.1 refurb on ecost

I will be listening in stereo mode only... so if I get the 4.1 I will chunk the rear satellites... im just concerned about the performance of the subwoofer and the mains. which system sounds more accurate?

I have nothing to add, but I'd like to know too.

I've heard the ProMedia 2.1 on its own..and wow...I was very impressed!

I'd like to hear how the GMX is in comparision.

the GMX is the gimicky value-line Promedias. The only advantage they have is that they look cooler. As for disadvantages, they replaced the dual side-firing 8'' subwoofers of the 5.1 with a single 6'' sub, and all the satellites are less powerful. I would definitely go with the 4.1's or 5.1 Ultras.

Those are good :) But considering the price of the refurbished 4.1's, which i payed around $200 for, I would definitely go with the 4.1s

On another note, (don't mean to jack the thread) I'm looking for a nice audio setup too for the PC. I looked at the 5.1 Ultras and they seem impressive. Do they break as easily as everyone says? Would they make a nice small home entertainment (via the PC) audio setup too? I've never seen them in person but they get great reviews. I just want something with power and bass as well. Never had a nice audio setup and don't have space for a big home theatre with tv. Games, music CDs and DVDs are what I'd use it for.

Logitech has the Z-2200 which are 2.1 system for about 130$... being a dedicated 2 channel system im thinking it might sound good? i know the consensus on the z-xxx system is that they arent as high quality as the Klipsch...maybe the Z-2200 are different?
