Hello Everybody,

I just recently saw a deal for these speakers (I believe for the same price, so no cr@pping on that one is intended, just wanted to make this information public)

GameVE currently has the Klipsch ProMedia 5.1 THX speakers on sale for $369 with free shipping (promotion) they've only got 20 sets left according to their website. Here's a link.

(JUST A QUICK NOTE: I've NEVER dealt with GameVE's online ordering before, so I cannot vouch for their service online. However, I have ordered and gone to their place for a will-call order on a Chieftec FS-710 (Enermax FS-710, Antec SX10-0 OEM) and the place is real, along with a large warehouse.)

I spoke with Lawrence from GameVE, and he treated me well when I went to pick up my case

THIS IS NOT A DEAL BY ANY STRETCH OF THE IMAGINATION! LOL. PLEASE CHECK OUT SOME OF THE OTHER THREADS RECENTLY POSTED (NEWEGG $375 W/ FREE SHIPPING) DEALS. MODS, IF YOU WISH TO LOCK, FEEL FREE. I LIKE THE POLL THOUGH, SO IF PEOPLE WOULD LIKE TO VOTE KEEP IT GOING! :)

Peace

Promedia is the best among those 'top quality spks' that are known to large ppl (z560, and altec new 400w baby)

not only is this 5.1 (and cost $240 more than altec :) , but the sound is absolutely beautiful. from deep bass to high tone

but, if you think $240 doesn't justify that, you have other options :) .. i might try altec.. but i heard it's having same problem as z560 .. :p

IMO a much much better deal

A compareable set for 100 less

IMO midrange is more important than bass (music vs. games/movies) because i listen to music 3 to 4 times as much on my comp

who puts the Bass on 100 % anyway i dont even with my BA4800's because its still provides a ton of bass @ 1/3 the way

<< A very common question is how does the ProMedia 5.1 compare to the MegaWorks 510D. Unfortunately at this point in time neither Mikael nor I have had the opportunity to listen to both systems head to head. We do have some common reference points and objective test results to compare though. Based on that information I will make an educated guess that the MegaWorks 510D midrange quality will have some advantage over the ProMedia 5.1 midrange, while the ProMedia 5.1 will hold some advantage in both upper bass extension and high frequency response. Both the ProMedia 5.1 and MegaWorks 510D subwoofers are deep and powerful. Both also use different designs and likely have some strengths and weaknesses relatively speaking. What we can?t really say is what the end result of putting this all together is. Again, since neither Mikael nor I have heard both systems we will leave it at that.

If you're going to spend that much on speakers you might as well put together a DTS HT system and connect your computer to it... it will be far better than any computer speakers Klipsch puts out.

I played around with the Klipsch 5.1 and Logitech Z560's at Best Buy last night, and sure, the Promedia's sounded great, but I was much more impressed with the Logitech's. The Z560's bass was sweet (and yet, not overpowering like some try to say it is), and I liked the look of them. Plus, knowing I can get them for less than half what I could get the ProMedia's for, I think the Logitech's would be worth it. For me, I'm still using analog four-point surround speakers from Creative . . . but frankly, they work just fine, and I can constantly get my wife to yell at me for rim-rattlin' the house!

i think for a casual music listener Cambridge is the best. I have a set of soundworks for several years ago and when i listen to them they are still very sweet and crystal clear when compare to my friend's altec lansing ADA880. Even though the bass was nothing compare to the 880 cuz its got a massive subwoofer but cambridge's sound quality is very good and still better than the later version of altec lansing. Plus it you cant hear the hizzing until you put your ear close to the speaker and max the volume.
