Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 or Logitech Z-2300

I'm guessing this topic has come up many times, but here it is again.

A few things to consider.
1: The ProMedia 2.1 has won 7 awards. The Z-2300 has won only 1 award.
2: The ProMedia 2.1 has a tweeter. The Z-2300 does not.
3: Klipsch has been making audio equipment for 60 years. Logitech has only been around for 25 years.
4: Alienware offers the ProMedia 2.1 with their systems. They do not offer the Z-2300. There best audio system is also made by Klipsch.
5: Falcon NW doesn't offer any Logitech speaker systems with their computers. They do offer the Klipsch ProMedia Ultra 5.1.

I am by no means an audio expert, but I do know what sounds good. Please, someone truthfully tell me which system sounds the best?

Some interesting reading.

"Consumer reviews are just about the most worthless reviews to read. Most of them base their review off the single product they bought for whatever reason. Generally speakers all sound great when there is nothing to compare them too. Most of the consumer reviews are not comparisons, just more like "Wow, these speakers are so loud and the bass is awesome." To me that spells "newbie." Loudness of a high quality speaker system is a given, they are all loud, but the real question is the quality of the product and the quality of the sound. The Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 is the best choice, if you value sound quality over flash and mediocore sound coloration. Don't be ignorant and buy what everyone else does."

"There are no Klipsch fanboys, only "Anti-Klispch" Ignorant Logitech Fanboys."

Why ask a question when you clearly have made your decision on the subject? Seems like your only intent is to stir trouble.

edit: Price being of no concern I doubt anyone will say Logitech is better. Since z-2300s can generally be had for $100 (rebates are offered frequently taking these down to $60-70) and Klipsch's for $135 I can't say that the extra expense is worth it for those on a budget.

I actually have both of these systems. Well kinda. I have the z-2200, the model before the z-2300, however they are the same specs. I like both of these systems. I have the promedia hooked up to my main computer, and the z-2200 hooked up to my (Intel) Mac box in my bedroom. I tend to prefer the promedia 2.1. It is alot cleaner and definitely more musical. The Logitech is alot more bass heavy, and the midrange and upper frequencies sound a little "clouded". But I would trade both of these systems for a z-5500, which rocks!!

I picked the option of "I'll suggest a better 2.1 system," so I'll suggest Klipsch Ifis over the promedias. Swans are supposed to be nice too.

I was trying to choose between the Z-5500 and the Promedia 5.1... one can be found for very low prices and is good for movies and ok for music, the other sounds better for music and is more expensive but is known to overheat as well.... there was only one solution.... get a reciever and a set of surround speakers... I am quite happy now :)

I still wasn't sure, 96% sure. I kinda wanted to start some trouble, fortunately that didn't happen. ;)

I was just at Best Buy and they had the ProMedia 2.1 set up to test, but not the Z-2300. They sounded great, considering I have no idea where the source was from, and that helicopter fly-by thing they have is stupid. The sound effect itself isn't even good quality. They also had the sound of a racing game, which sounded bad on all the speakers set-up.

Price is no object? Then buy a receiver and get some real bookshelf speakers.

The midrange on the Klipsch is better than the Logitech so Klipsch is better for music. But the midrange on the Klipsch will still be pitiful compared to the Polk RT28i speakers I'm listening to right now.

Price no object? Go for some Studio Monitors (Behringer and M-Audio make decent budget monitors, about $250-400).

I have a set of Dynaudio BM5a's and love them (~$900, + Balanced output sound card)

If you're not willing to spend that much though, Klipsch is decent.

I actually switched from the Klipsch 2.1 to the Logitechs because the Klipsch had a highly annoying hiss at low volume / silence. The Logitechs aren't quite as clear on the high end but the bass is much stronger. Overall I'm happy with them.
