Over the past few months I've been looking for a new set of speakers to replace my aging Altec Lansing ACS-48's and really wanted the Klipsch Promedia 4.1's since I have their home stereo speakers and they are fantastic but was a little concerned with previous posters saying there were problems with the amp/line noise and no headphone output on the speakers themselves. Anyway I ordered the 2.1's which are the same as the 4.1's but 3 speaker instead of 5 speaker set.

All I can say about these is WOW!! A huge jump up from the ACS48's which were still very powerful. The kicker with the 2.1's is they have headphone and line in on one of the satellites, unlike the 4.1's from what I understand. The sub is simply outstanding and good highs with the satellite..mids are a bit lacking but to be expected in a 3 or even 5 speaker setup with satellites this size.

They're not cheap at 199.00 but for those with limited desk space and dont want to bother with setting up rear's or a small room, these are a perfect choice! Just to let you know Outpost and Klipsch.com both have these in stock now for 199.00 with free shipping at both places! Sales tax is charged in a few states by both vendors. Anyway I wanted to post a first look on these since they were just released a week or so ago and nobody had done a review on them. Let me know if you have any questions I can answer...

Don't mean to bust your bubble, but I belive Best Buy has the 2.1s for $149.99. I still can't figure out how Best Buy can sell just the Pro Medias and not the rest of the speaker line, although it's probably a good thing, that way you don't have some Best Buy fool telling you why some Sony's are better than a pair of La Scala's!.

I think Klipsch is also promoting the use of 2 2.1 systems (yes, a 4.2) for the high-end. Can you imagine 2 Klipsch subs at once?!?!?! Wow!

SUOrangeman, yep you're right about the Dual 2.1 setup..in the owners manual for the 2.1 there is a wiring diagram if you purchase 2 of them...that would be crazy.....I cant imagine 2 of these subs, it is already so loud!

Like I said, it would only be 3db louder :)
Just above a noticeable difference, but there would be more vibration of stuff in your room area.

StickHead, where have you seen the Klipsch 2.1 @ Best Buy? I've seen the 4.1's, but not the 2.1's. The usually-uninformed sales people don't know the 2.1's even exist. I checked BB's website, to find only the 4.1's listed.

<< . Anyway I ordered the 2.1's which are the same as the 4.1's but 3 speaker instead of 5 speaker set. >>

Sorry to burst your bubble about this statement but it is quite incorrect...
2.1:
2 x 35w --> for the sats...
1 x 130w --> for the sub...

4.1:
4 x 60w --> for the sats...
1 x 160w --> for the sub...

Anyway, as you can see the 4.1 setup is quite a bit more powerful (at least in the specs). I dont have these speakers so I dont know what the actual difference in sound and/or loudness is but I just wanted to let you know. For ~$50 more, i think the extra 200w is worth it... but thats just my situation... may not be yours.
