Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 computer speaker

I'm thinking of buying the Klipsch Pro Media 2.1 speakers. I want to hook them up to a Samsung 46 inch lcd TV...is this possible. I read that it was but the person did not explain how to do it.

i think you need a line level input. When on avs forums and looking at the kuro faq this is comes up

# Q. Can I connect powered speakers (soundbars, PC speakers etc.) to the speaker outputs?
a. It's unwise to make a direct connection. A level converter is normally required. Search (google) for "speaker level line level converter" for more choices.

but I believe this is because the Kuro monitor has like 9w output/power so if you tried hooking speakers up to it directly it could mess it up.

What's the model number of your TV?

If you haven't bought the Promedias yet, you might want to think about something else. As Slick5150 mentioned, volume control might get a little messy. If your TV has RCA analog audio output (or 3.5mm I suppose), it may also have variable output which would mean you could control the volume with the remote. You'd still have volume control on the speaker system though too.

If you have future upgrade plans for your audio system, you'll probably have to start from scratch again. That isn't the end of the world since the Promedias will probably hold their value well, but if you want to take the first steps toward a system you can upgrade over time, the Promedias are a dead end.

Why are you buying these speakers for your TV? If you're just trying to avoid getting a receiver, you'd probably do better with a headphone amp plus a set a bookshelf speakers. While the ProMedia speakers are very nice computer speakers, they don't hold up even against low-end home-theater speakers (I'm not talking about a $100 HTIB either). I've owned the v2.400 (the very first promedias) for 7 years and a low-end Polk system for 5 years, and there's no comparison between the two. Granted, my HT system cost more, but I think just the two mains plus a headphone amp would cost about the same as the Promedias and sound a heckuva lot better.

Just another idea to throw out there.

The Samsung LCDs I've seen had RCA variable audio output. You'd need a RCA to 3.5mm cable, and set the audio to variable in the menu.

u better have a very small room. computer speakers are near field speakers. they dont' fill rooms well, they'll sound strained. you need sats of decent size...atleast a 3.5+ midrange.. easy to cobble together from a reciever+ bookshelves etc.
