Have had the Klipsch's for about 4 years now, they are the first 4.1's with the old pre-amp with the static problem when adjusting the volume, never bothered upgrading the pre-amp to the CP-1.. Would the upgrade to the Logitech's be worth it? Don't need all the extra inputs, just mp3, gaming on these speakers...

The z5500s from my limited experience (I just got them) sound better than my neighbor's (in the dorms at school) Klipsch Promedia Ultra 5.1s. Now they don't blow them out of the water by any means, but they sound a tad better. IMHO the bass is tighter and the mids and highs are a bit clearer. However, it's a tough call b/c you already have a very decent system. The question is do you have $300 burning a whole in your pocket?

I would go for the Z5500. Then again, the only reason I did it was because I payed < 199 through amazon. Upgraded from Z680 (which i sold). To me, they sound slightly better than the Klipsch. You cant go wrong with either of them.

How do you go about upgrading the amp? I have the 4.1s with the same problem.
