***MOD NOTICE - Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, I have no idea if this is plug and play or whatever or OT, so if it is, just move it, cause i have no idea where speakers forums are =D Thx ***

I was wondering...cause the klipsch 5.1 isnt due for another 2-3 weeks, should i wait 4 the klipsch 5.1 or just get the Klipsch 4.1...
BTW, I watch movies and playing games
I dont really know the difference between 5.1 and 4.1 and i have the Hercules GTXP
I was wondering if it would make a difference or anything
Thx a lot

if you can afford it, wait for the 5.1. from what i've seen it has a bigger sub and stuff, its not just an extra speaker:p

Well, the 5.1's have 500W vs. 400W for the 4.1's. Also, the 5.1's have a separate volume and balance adjustment unit. If you're going to spend that much on your speakers, go all the way.

If I had that much spare money to spend, I would get the 5.1's. You'll get a richer movie-viewing experience. I've heard the 4.1's and they sound incredible, so I can only imagine what the 5.1's will be like. And anyway, they are supposed to be $399, which isn't that much more than the 4.1's

ohh yes waiting is the worst part.... I waited 4 months for my Klipsch 4.1... then... when I got them... :) it was like... I can't tell how it was but it was great ! hehe.

If you get the 5.1... you won't regret it later.... have you ever felt REAL BASE ? ;) You will...

See I bought my v4.00 or whatever they are called, then about 3 months later the 4.1s came out. I bought the speakers way before my system because I used them with the system I had at the time. Its alright though I dont even use my Klipsch speakers hardly at all anymore, My Sennheiser headphones sound much better. So my recommendation is look into some expensive headphones. For $400 you can get some really really high quality headphones that will make the klipsch speakers look like those little speakers that come with emachines or something, lol. No seriously though If you have the chance go to a High End audio store and listen to some high quality headphones. I know I am a convert. Oh lastly check out www.headwize.com

Honestly, I'm picking up the 2.1 set myself. Why you might ask? Simple .... because I have a small room.

If I mainly play games, should I bother with the 4.1 or 5.1s? I am currently running the Altec lansing ACS-33s 2.1 setup. Its ok for games, but it has absolutely no midrange. I can't hear what anyone's saying well when I watch DVD's. What would you reccomend for speakers? I'd rather not spend too much if I don't need it, and I live with my parents still, so I can't blare my music.;>)

P.S. My Soyo Dragon Mobo does have the 5.1 controller built in

The GTXP will only play sound through the center channel in movies in Dolby Digital. (with the current drivers...) MP3,games, everything else will only play through 4.1, no sound from the center channel.

It's up to you to decide if the extra $$$ is worth it, but if you want my opinion, nope. :) Save money and get the 4.1 now.

aka inis, if you can afford it, go for the 5.1:p you won't have to upgrade to 5.1 later atleast:) and its a more powerful system.. bigger sub etc. so even when your not using the center speaker you will benifit.

What he's saying (I didn't get it at first) is that only DVD's with Dolby Digital are capable of supplying 6 channels of sound. The other media only supply 5. I suppose he's saying that with a driver update it might put something out the center channel for MP3's, games, etc.

That's correct! :)

Some sound cards like the Philips AE and (I think?) Santa Cruz will play regular (non-5.1 sound) through all the channels, but the GTXP won't. (it can technically, they just have to put it in the drivers, and I hope they do with the next driver release)

So right now, the Klipsch 5.1 would be a waste IMO, unless you really want the new sub and little remote-with-a-wire thing...

Well, still i still think imma opt for the 5.1
Even if it the center speaker dont werk and etc etc in GTXP, ill wait 4 the drivers *THEY BETTER COME*
BTW, the bass could be better and other things other than an additional center piece and remote (lolz i dont have 2 get up anymore =P)

We'll see
=D

I'm just thinking. I've seen a post (maybe in this thread, probably not - been reading all the threads I can find on the Klipsch speakers at AT), by a guy who does use the center speaker, but he said another card is needed (didn't elaborate). What I'm wondering is if it's not possible to simply divert one of the two sets of front speaker outputs on the back of the GTXP breakout box (there's a stereo mini-plug and an RCA pair) to the center speaker. Why not? Could you join the front left and right channel and feed them into the center speaker on the Klipsch 5.1? The connection would be easy. I may have the connectors necessary, or you could work out something with stuff you can get at Radio Shack, etc. What cards like the Santa Cruz and the Acoustic Edge do is probably basically the exact same thing.
