Klipsch 4.1 or (2) z560's???

i already have the Klipsch, should i stick with them or should i sell my klipsch and get 2 z560's?

why do you need 2 z560s? one already blows the klipsch away

or use the second z650 for the front/back center with the Game Theater XP

Go, listen to them both (preferably at least in the same room, if not with the same speaker placement), then make your own decision. Speakers are a highly subjective catergory.

how big is your room?

I think with two subwoofers, you need to be careful of placement because of destructive interference.

There is absolutely no reason to have an 8.2 setup for PC speakers.

personally, i think the kilpsch are higher quality speakers. i have them and love them. the sound quality is amazing. I bought them last summer before the z560's came out. best investment in computer speakers i ever made.

4.1 is a good idea because of surround sound, and sound is encoded for it.

8.2 is a bad idea because the subs may cancel each other out. Not to mention it will take up twice the space, and youll have to split the signal, thus lowering the quality and volume to each set. And cross talk is never a good thing, if you think that enclosing yourself in speakers is a good idea.

Youre far better off turning up the volume on one set, because thats all having 2 sets is going to do for you.

It would be a different story if there was actual 8.2 output, not the doubling of 4.1, but there isnt.

Besides, if one set of z560s isnt loud enough for you, the problem isnt the speakers, its your ears. Better get them checked.

hehe, nothin wrong with my ears.

i was thinking more like have 1 z560, then add the second one as the Front Center and the Rear Center, so it's actually 6.1 sound (which the GTXP supports)

Since sound is waves, if theyre opposing theyll cancel each other out, and youll hear nothing.

Not likely to happen with the small wavelengths of high frequency satellites, but more of a problem with subs, which have generally large wavelengths.

Ive never heard of a sound card with 6.1 sound, AFAIK the most cards have is 6 outputs (5 for sats and 1 for sub).

If it really does have 6 outputs and no LFE, I suppose it would work, but ditch the extra 2 speakers, and put one sub on top of the other, that way the waves are less likely to oppose each other.


Honestly though, considering the range in which the speakers are likely to be placed, you really really dont need 6 channels.

I've got both to listen to, my old old klipsches at school (back when the pre amp was too strong), and a set of logitechs at home for my brother.

I like the way that the klipsches sound overall.

A set of the logitechs that I had bought for a friend were apparently defective, the sub stopped working.
