KLinux/SETI; Help me get more WUs!

First, I wanted to let you know about the scripts I am using to run S@H on KLinux. I've uploaded them to my other web server. You put these, a static S@H for Linux binary, and your user_info.sah file on one floppy, KLinux on another. Boot KLinux, login, and type:

mount /mnt/floppy
/mnt/floppy/i
/seti

and it should run.

Unfortunately, I've been having problems with this system of late. Specifically, other people want to use the computers I'm running this on. :Q With SETI in a ramdisk, work units are dropped before they are done. So, does anybody know where I could find a statically-linked ftp program? I think I could take it from there.

Edit: Source code would be fine, too. At this point, even a reply of, "I have no idea", would help.

Bump for you. I was looking into devoting a machine strictly to linux for seti, but now I may do Win98....hope it works out.

Thanks, Poof! It looks like it should work; I'll try it and see how it goes.

And, geekender, I hope I didn't put you off of Linux. My problem here is not that any program is dropping WUs; rather the problem is that other people shut down KLinux to run their own OSes and applications. On a machine strictly devoted to SETI, this system should work perfectly.

Cool! Good luck with that and let us know how it does! That would make a big difference in keeping the processes going if/when the ram disk disappears. I've run SETI on floppy and although it works okay saving the state.sah to the floppy itself, eventually the floppy wears out much faster than normal. Having a remote save and restore ability would take the wear and tear off for sure!

Nope, it won't work. Weex will send data, but not retrieve it. Any other ideas, or source code? BTW, whatever the program is, it should fit in about 800k or less.

Gosh Ken - you got me on a mission now... I was doing some searching and I stumbled upon something that sortof reminded me of something I had discussed at work a few years ago, and that was TFTP. I think one of our routers had that capability and we were talking about it. Then I came upon this, and it gave me an idea about perhaps having you try setting up your linux box like a sortof diskless workstation (especially since you had planned on transferring files back over to it whenever the RAM disk was purged).

Just curious about your thoughts on this!
