I posted this in a thread for another deal, but I thought some others might benefit from this.

These are not the best speakers money can buy, but they are a decent set of entry-level surround speakers. I've had them about 6 months and have been using them with my computer. The subwoofer is passive, but you can always get another to use with it. Personally, I think the passive one is fine.

Free shipping and the $15 off 100 coupon make this $85 shipped.

How can they call it

<< Home Theater System >>

while there are only speakers? I would expect at least a 2-channel receiver.

And Passive subwoofer?

Looks like a good price (I know nothing about HT though). How would these work in a small living room with this? I have a Yamaha 6-pc DD5.1/DTS computer speaker set but was thinking about getting something with more mustard.

Yellowperil, that receiver should work fine with these speakers as long as you're using a digital coaxial or optical source for the 5.1 input. If i'm reading the specifications on the Best Buy site correctly, this does not have analog inputs for all the speakers. It just depends on what you want to use it with I guess.

Thanks for that info. I want to use them as computer speakers and watch DVD's. I currently have a sound card with optical S/PDIF and a DVD-ROM.

price is excellent.

one word of caution, the sub is not powered. you probably want another one. it's weaker than my 40W yamaha computer sub

the other speakers are decent. i had a set just like it but dumped 'em after i got myself some technics speakers.
