So there's all this talk about fighting terrorism. I have a question.

Why isn't the KKK considered a terrorist organization?

Do we have to wait until they perform some kind of mass murder, like blowing up a few black churches with people still inside, first?

I'd like to hear some good arguments. Its for a research paper so please be objective and no flaming.
 
The KKK really hasn't done anything major other than march in years...

That's like classifying the Symbanese Liberation Army as a terrorist organization...why.
 
How about you answer MY question: when was the last time the KKK did anything but talk about white power? The KKK a) has not committed any violent acts against minorities for a number of years, and b) do not advocate killing blacks anymore. They only speak about the virtues and the power of the white race.
 
I believe in what our country was founded on which is freedom. But seriously what are those assholes doing for the good of mankind?

Listen to this man, he knows what he's saying. To add to what he said in b) the KKK is more about separation of the whites with other races. It is more about keeping the white race "pure" and in power than it is about killing other people or terrorizing them.
 
They are considered an extremist organisation and I have no doubt that they have been and are still being watched by the FBI. It would not suprise me at all if there were multiple FBI agents in the KKK, atleast in some of the larger chapters.

They are not considered a terrorist organization because they haven't actually commited any terror acts in a while, atleast not as a cohesive whole. Hicks that get together to go lynching after a KKK meeting do not represent the actions of the whole organization.

He believes blacks and Mexicans are animals and not humans.

He needs to put others down in order to make himself feel better.

He ranked these groups from highest to lowest: 'Eskimos, Chinks, Gooks, Mexicans, Mulattos, N*gg*rs, Gays and Kikes.'
His catch phrase is 'Wake up white people.'

So if he committed a hate crime, it wouldn't be terrroism. He can be declared too mentally incompetant to stand trial right?

The difference between an enemy of the state and domestic criminals; military vs. law enforcement. Granted, there can be a fine line there at times. The KKK hasn't been a threat to law and order in several decades. Today they are mostly hate mongers who spew vile rhetoric (1st Amendment) but little more. From time to time, they commit personal crimes against targeted individuals, which is more of a law enforcement issue.
 
On an unrelated note, Daniel Carver's movie reviews on Stern are classic. (no i am not racist, but he's slightly entertaining)
 
aren't they resonsible for like a bazillion lynchings from civil war times up to the civil rights movement? u'd think they'd be sued for reparations or something

Well it would be a little silly to crack down on a group of people who are plotting to distribute racist pamphlets to the exclusion of people who are plotting to kill as many Americans as they can...don't you think?

 
People may not like the KKK, however until they start strapping bombs to their bodies and hang out at bus stops, they should not be considered a terrorist organization.
 
Plus KKK members are US citizens, like it or not. They are protected by the constitution. For everyone else, we can slaughter them at will.
