"I understand that ( The Knights ) and ( The Knights Party) are one and the same and can be used interchangeably just as the GOP and the Republican Party or The Grand Old Party"

http://kkk.bz/main/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/The-Knights-Party-Application-for-Association.pdf

it makes sense that such groups have to target the appropriate demographics but i was still a little surprised that was mentioned in their application.

That doesn't mean they are trying to associate themselves with the GOP. It's just an analogy. If I said Dodge vehicles are as unreliable as black people, does that mean I am saying black people and Dodge vehicles are related in some way? Like Dodge is built by black people or only black people drive a Dodge?

That would open up a whole new world of strange implications from analogies. I pay a doctor to stick his fingers in my ass. I pay a prostitute to stick her fingers in my ass. All prostitutes are doctors. :p

i don't think you understand what they are saying..
It's a sad day when the KKK says "sorry bro but you're not smart enough to join us"

It's because of idiots like the OP that I roll my eyes and stop listening when people begin to throw out accusations of racism.

We sure have been getting some retarded threads lately...

looks like a retarded response to me.

then why don't you fill me in. do you think that the KKK would have stated anything about the Democratic party in their application? of course not, they don't want to piss off potential candidates for membership.

Perhaps they're reticent to go back to their roots. :)

They don't want to use democrats in the analogy because that would cause a psychological effect known as priming. Democrats and the KKK are extreme polar opposites. One group wants forced segregation (hate on people just because they are black) and the other wants forced integration (hiring dangerously unqualified people just because they are black). Saying "democrat" brings up a lot of angry emotions, and those angry emotions are then associated with reading this KKK application. That's bad. GOP is more neutral position. The GOP doesn't really go for forced segregation these days, but they also don't support forced integration. It's a good analogy because it doesn't bring up an overly emotional response to the analogy.

the first half of that i would agree with, the second half, not so much. does anyone actually believe that the vast majority of KKK members aren't Republicans?

Would it even be possible for you to make a non-offensive post?

Jesus wept.

What are you on lately?

I made non offensive posts at one time, but people don't notice them. Nobody ever replies to them. It feels like I'm talking to a dog but not even getting the puppy eyes or wagging tail response.
My gf posts on this forum and her posts are always calm and inoffensive. Nobody responds to her, nobody quotes her, nothing. She doesn't get the same enjoyment from this forum that I do. I post stuff that is extreme or logically flawed in some way and it gets the debate going. It feels like I'm actually talking to people instead of talking to nobody. I learn a lot on this forum by posting crazy shit and trying to defend it to the best of my ability.

This forum would be really boring if it were filled with normal people. One of the things I like about the internet is how people immediately take the most extreme position possible. In the L&R forum, someone will say his gf has some innocent quirk, and the next reply is that he should dump her and find someone better.

They do offer a student discount. That's very Democratic of them.
What's the point? College students are usually left wing. I'm out of the college and I'm still pretty left wing. The world is against us when we are young, so we want a bigger piece of it. People get more right wing and angrier as they get older because suddenly they are the ones being taxed and their stuff is given to a bunch of young people.

My post was 100%, pure, unadulterated sarcasm.

Honestly, threads like this one highlight everything that's wrong with P&N. Half the posts in here are two extremes trying to spit on the other. The OP is trying to associate the GOP with the KKK and thereby implying that Republicans are bigots because KKK members allegedly are Republicans as well; good ol' guilt by association. It's a specious argument and it's actually not much of a different mindset than being a racist in the first place. The thought process is nearly identical.
