Posted in Video that I thought Launchpad with any entries enabled in MSCONFIG startup caused scanregw to fail access to registry on boot. After
disabling any startup ATI entry, did about 10 restarts & cold boots OK.
Loaded MS Streets 2001, problem back worse than ever. Found that all checked program entries in MSCONFIG startup were corrupted. Spent 2 days recovering from that & searching the Net for answers.
So far, completely cleaned out ATI & then reinstalled just ATI 7075 driver. No MMC or DVD. NET search says probably bad memory. Repl PC150,
256m stick with pc133 128m. Still no good. I'm at set at cas 3, no OC.
Search says NAV can cause this. Uninstalled Norton & cleaned reg. Seems
to be OK. Installed reskit from w98se cd. Bam! Windows encountered an error. Windows will restart & fix the registry for you!!!!! I'm back
to square one. Boot to DOS, scanreg /fix again, reboot clean. Try restart,
back to registry access problem. Multiple reboots later, no change. C-A-D
to end scanregw & came here. NET search also said error could be caused
by way MB accesses int. & ext. cache. Haven't tried turning them off yet.
It seems like I have to go through this for any software install.
Anybody got any other suggestions?
