I have found that even though ata100 is supposed to be backwards
compatible with ata33 that something about the via drivers will not
allow DMA33 drives like DVDroms or Plextor DMA33 writers to be
accessed DMA enabled unless you connect them with ATA100 cables.
I had trouble with not being able to access a plextor 12/10/32 that
was DMA33 enabled until I swapped the supplied ata33 cable with a
ata100 one.
Any similar situations? This was with a kk266
