kk266 ide hard drive and cd rom question

Please help, just installed my system.... The strangest thing happened, my velocd tdk is the primary master but my two ibm drives are a secondar master and a secondary slave. But when i format the ibm drive it's still letter c:. Is this normal? Did I connect the drives to the wrong slot?
I am figuring IDE 0 is the primary master and the IDE 1 is the primary slave and the FDC is the secondary master, please help... Thanks again

My KK266 is the same---Samsung CD-ROM and Philips CD-RW on IDE1 as Primary master/slave and two Maxtor HDD's on IDE0 as Secondary master/slave. Drive letters C:/D: are the HDD's. I thought this was strange, too, but haven't had any problems and too lazy to open the case and swap the IDE cables to see if that changes anything.

I believe by default your hard drives letters will always be first starting with c:

To clarify, you have a hard drive with one partition, Windows will label it c: regardless if it is on IDE0 or IDE1, and then assign letters to your CD drives after assigning letters to your hard drive partition/partitions.
