Kitty Head-Butts

Anyone's cats head-butt them? I know some cats do this quite alot, but I have two females and one never does it (but rubs her face on everything) and the other very rarely.

Just now she wanted my attention and head-butted me on the back of my leg. That's about as far as it goes- once in a while she goes head-to-head with me, but most of the time shies away.
 
yeah, we have 3 cats. Two are kittens and we just got them, so they don't do it much, but the other cat (we've had for ~10 years) does it whenever she wants something.
 
I read somewhere that if you start handling them early, it makes them more sociable towards people- they actually think that you're one of them.

I got my cats from a shelter when they were already 1yr old- probably why they won't head-butt me. Nice kitties tho.

yep, they're marking you.

actually I read it depends on how they do it....most of the time is marking, but depending on the part of their head they rub on you, it can be affection.
 
I have eleven cats. Seven of them are into head butting. Not just with me, but with each other... cause they all love each other and are such good friends.

(11 might seem like a lot, but 8 of them are indoor/outdoor models that spend only 10PM-8AM indoors)
