Hah, that's as much as my laptop scores! ;)

I hope they come in at about 90 bucks. That's wishful thinking though. :|

No info about the size, power consumption, and noise make me a sad panda... those are the most important factors when buying a cheap card, considering how most go into HTPCs.

I've always wondered, what exactly is the market for these cards from AMD and Nvidia? The performance seems about as good (probably lower actually considering how much more powerful CPUs have come since early 2007 reviews) as a 8800GTX/3870 from 4 years ago.

Surely gamers and folding@home/DH enthusiasts enjoy playing with high(or high-ish/medium-high) details and they don't have the horsepower to compete there (not to mention, once you go below medium details, games tend to look much, much worse than even on a console), they're not the lowest power/lowest end card so they tend to mostly have active cooling and power consumption you wouldn't want in an HTPC. Everyone else just using the internet and general working can get by with onboard, or if really needed a lowest tier card, so what is the rationale for purchasing something like this?

I had a pair of 9600GT's that once scored 21K in 06. It's all about the cpu clock speed

These will be used by OEMs and people who just need a mild upgrade for their existing PCs. I installed several HD 4600 cards into desktops for people. Every few years people need an upgrade to better watch video and web gaming on their PCs. All of this uses the GPU for hardware acceleration.

This 6670 is certainly faster than the 3870, and approaches the 8800GTX. I looked at other 3DMark scores and the 6670 seems to fall right in between a 5670 and 5750, although it doesn't seem like too much of a bump from the 5670.

They release these chips because they are cheaper to make than those older chips. Same performance + cheaper to make = Forget about the old chips. Plus new features come along which need to be added and weren't a thought four years ago.

Not to mention some people may have a 17-19 in monitor running 1440x900. This card would likely drive it fairly well for quite cheap.
