All I have to say is that they can't get here fast enough. AMD needed these chips yesterday.

I'm just going to take this post like I do the ones over in the CPU section. Again, at this point AMD should be ruling the world with their PR statements.

It's been a long time since they've actually validated their own claims.

We need an 'ism for posts that bring up the AMD CPU division in regards to their GPU's.

Except that it also killed AMD's bottom line and took a mini reactor to power. Hence why the reason it was rebranded with a 5% performance increase and a $180 price increase.

They were selling 290's for $150 where you are? Or is that just FUD like the rest of the statement?

So if everything works for AMD and GloFo 14 nm GPU like R9 480 will have 3584 GCN cores with 4 GB of HBM?

And 600 mm2 GPU will have 8192 GCN cores?

I would imagine that AMD would like to shrink the die sizes to lower their BOM costs. They need their GFX division to generate some profits (which will be difficult on the current low volumes).

Since 14nm will likely be around for a while, AMD will eventually get to > 500mm2 designs. IMHO.

This isn't even a PR statement by AMD, its an article talking about the names of their upcoming GPUs. Doesn't even talk about performance.

Anyways, yeah wouldn't surprise me if they rebadge the 380s as 470s next up.

If this wasn't an official AMD statement, my apologies on assuming it was. After reading some of the posts I just assumed.
