I'm not gay, so I wouldn't know the answer. Sorry. ;)

That's a gay thing to say.

REAL men know how to cook and bake...and know about the tools of the trade.

IMO, there is no "one classic color" for the Kitchenaid mixers though. Get whatever floats your boat...or, if you're into that kind of thing, whatever matches your other appliances/coordinates with your kitchen.

Personally, I don't care one way or the other, but my wife prefers small appliances be red.

The first one I seen was kind of a light mustard yellow. I don't recall seeing a red one until ~1990.

The problem is that they change the shade of red if you're trying to match stuff over the years, go with black (god awful to keep clean) or white.

The massive industrial mixer they had in the dining hall I worked at in college was a puke green. Fuck, that thing could mix.

As for the little ones, I'd say it's whatever matches the room's decor.

"classic" is steel/stainless steel, that is what they were before they introduces the color line

In the 1950s, colored mixers were made available. The colors ranged from the feminine Petal Pink to the elegant Satin Chrome. This colorful palette is featured in the KitchenAid Artisan Series.

The color I have is close to their imperial gray. It's easy to keep clean and shouldn't fade. It seems like white appliances tend to turn a yellowish color over the years.

I think I'm getting one for Christmas. At least I hope I am.

I got the dark blue.

It's a great appliance. I only use it maybe 5-10 times a year, but it allows me to do stuff I could never do otherwise.
