I didn't see this episode, but after watching a few, you have to wonder what these people were thinking when they decided to get into the restaurant business. They have no idea how to bring in customers and no idea what will make them happy once they get there. On quite a few of the follow-ups they do you often find they have often fallen back on doing things that caused them to be failing in the first place.

Yeah its such a shame. The UK version is so so good. I think it has to do with the restaurants and the owners themselves too. Not that Fox adds anything to the quality.

LOVE the UK version. Loathe the US version. I'm normally not "that way" either.

Not the first time a a place closed after Ramsy tried to save it. But....yeah...I had no idea how he could save the resteraunt when the problem was not the food, but the management.

I wish they did recaps .... so hilarous.

You all should watch the F word, Gordon Ramsey hosts that, as well as the HK series in the UK, good stuff.

His UK shows are much better, FOX's editing is crap.

that is nearly 50% of the owners he talks to (arrogant dickheads)...except that episode with the family, and he proposed to his girlfriend finally.

That was a pretty good episode.

Yeah, that turnaround happened ridiculously quick. I was surprised.

Also note that SEBASTIANS shut down as well. According to reviewers, he was as big of a douche in real life as he was on the show.

I guess, but this one was pretty bad and 'Black Pearl' did ring a bell. When I was watching it you could just tell that the guy knew he was wrong and knew he was an asshole, but wouldn't accept either. He didn't listen to Gordon at all. The conversation was something like F*** .... **** .... you ***** idiot.... **** fuck ... *****. I was thinking to myself "Damn, I hope reality hits that bastard from behind." Apparently it did.

But thanks to the powers of the internet, my questions were answered

I really enjoy Kitchen Nightmares, but the problem is that they show the huge crowds that show up after the restaurant is remade, and they're only there because they know Gordon Ramsey is there. I would expect more often than not that the restaurants don't significantly turn around after he leaves.

Seems like most of the restaurants featured on Kitchen Nightmares are all east coast within spitting distance of NY City. Guess Ramsay has to stay close to his own NY restaurants even when shooting a episode.

Black Pearl was the one with 3 owners trying to manage IIRC. I never realized Ramsay didn't follow-up post-makeover.

He DOES do a 6month/1 year followup (I think it was the season premier) and the restaurants that were featured seemed to be doing pretty well - at the very least alot better than before

I wouldn't doubt it if that was the case. And yeah, the Black Pearl was the one with the 3 owners in mid-town. Bunch of idiots to say the least.
