I've been seeing some really beautiful concrete countertops lately in the houses I work in. One of them even had fiber optics embedded in it like you would see in the ceiling of a home theater.

I've been seeing some really beautiful concrete countertops lately in the houses I work in. One of them even had fiber optics embedded in it like you would see in the ceiling of a home theater.

I've seen some really nice ones as well. The only drawback to concrete is the weight, it's reactive to acids if not properly sealed and, the need for a ten pound sledge if remodeling.

Thats a very interesting material, though the price is extremely high. I can get good quality Granite for $50 a square foot installed.
I may order a sample to experiment with. I need to find out how you fuse it together, machine it, and anchor it in place.
