kit needs 8...16 volts?

ok well i ordered this kit for spring break

on the data sheet it says the voltage is 8...16 volts. It also has this picture

if I give it 12v from a small power supply will it work?

12v is between 6v and 18v so it will be fine, as long as your power supply is DC of course.

thanks. I thought I might have to order a 16v PSU from jameco for this. And that would suck.

Most devices with such a huge voltage range have voltage regulators or something like that. At work we have a couple of pressure transducers with a similarly wide range. Get it in the range and you'll be ok. Unless it has a diode rectifier, polarity is crucial.
