There has been speculation for months that Kinzinger was going to retire from the House and run for Illinois Governor in 2022. Now that he has pulled the trigger on retirement, I wonder how long before he announces his run for governor.

as what, a Democrat?

IL had a republican governor from 2015-2019. Though Pat Quinn was a particularly weak performing democrat electorally. If 2022 is a wave year for the GOP he could stand a chance but JB Pritzker is pretty savvy, of course very wealthy, and has a well above water approval right now so wouldn't be easy pickings. Assuming of course Kinzinger could survive the GOP primary.

He was redistricted. He's going to stay politically active though. Hard to fight the Big Lie propaganda.

Oh, dems actually gerrymandered him out? The one time the bring a gun to the gunfight they cap one of the only remaining R's.

Savvy? As in corrupt and well connected?

Not as far as I know on the first but obviously yes on the second. The closest comparison I can think of it kind of a midwestern Bloomberg if he was governor.
