you're gonna need a lot of luck with stuff. Shoula gotten hyper-x if you planned on overclocking.

Ya, definitely should have went Hyper X for OC'n..

Anyhow, some people have good experiences with Value ram, some have horror stories...

IF possible, return that and grab something a bit faster..

Hit & miss, luck of the draw. Mine wouldn't run at 166 MHz with any semblance of stability. Good luck.

If it is Kingston Value Ram I have two of them on my rig right now running at 166 CAS 2.0. I have a xp 2600+ which runs at 166 fsb and lucks my ram to 166 on my soyo board. But if I put back my xp 2400+ this ram would run at 200 (400 mhz), cas 2.0. Even though it runs at those settings, the result on benchmarks are not that great.

yup that what I've heard, 200 FSB with relax timing for Value Ram. I myself used to run PC2100 value ram at 372 MHz .

If you can handpick those RAM you can get lucky and might even get CH-5 chips on them.

I've got it and.....:disgust: very bad it can't go upper than 166Mhz. Maybe doing something with timings, but I don't know how that is done, I mean, what and to what value I have to change.

Does this ram at least run stable at the spec 166 (333)? I don't intend to overclock my FSB over 166 (333), but I am hoping that the timings are fast and the ram runs stable.

Erm, not always, especially not if it's an nForce2 board - those have been known to not play well with certain RAM such as this. But he didn't specify mobo, so it might not be an issue.

I have the same ram running at 2-2-2-6 at 370MHz. Default voltage. Although I picked up a second stick (same brand/model) for my PC, but it didn't overclock well at all.
