As of right now the 64 GB V-Series SSD is only around $140 shipped from most large retailers. That's around $2/gig, which is very reasonable in my opinion and really puts me on the fence about getting one for my Thinkpad.
The drive does use a JMicron controller, but according to several reviews Kingston has worked with Toshiba and JMicron for half a year to fix the stuttering issues.
Reviews seem to confirms this: http://www.pureoverclock.com/review.php?id=772&page=8
My question is, is it worth it to spend $140 on a 64 GB Kingston V-series SSD for my Thinkpad T61? What other choices would offer better performance without breaking the bank? I know there are faster SSDs out there like the Intel X-25M, but it's also much more expensive.
Edit: Just saw some indilinx-based drives like the SuperTalent SX or the Samsung P series. Are those significantly better than the kingston for ~$20-30 more?
EDIT: Never mind, ended up buying a 64 GB SuperTalent Masterdrive SX for $155 shipped. Apparently it's the same drive as the OCZ Summit series
