Wasn't really in the market for one of these but this price sure is pretty good. 64 GB Kingston SSD. (Shamelessly ripped from 575rider at SD and put here for my peeps on AT). I'd imagine this will be gone soon. The rebate is for today only FYI

Decent deal, but your math is off. It's $1.75/gig. At 50 cents per gig this would be smoking. I'm guessing performance would be similar (but a little better) to the 30 gig V series, reviewed here.

Updated with information thanks to sublimed at SD. Look here for a review of the 128GB version. I believe this is the second revision and uses a newer controller (Jmicron 618 instead of 602), and is not the same as the 30 gig drive reviewed by Anandtech.

Good price!

FWIW, here's my mini-review of it posted on FW a while back. I still like this drive, all the more with the price drop... i might get another one for a dedicated swap/cache drive.

I have this on my aging C2QEx machine. The SNV425 may not be as fast as the other SSD's out there, but it outperforms my Caviar Black's (640 and 750's) by a wide margin. I almost fell for the ideology that "this SSD is faster than that" while forgetting the fact that nearly all SSD's now outperform a typical hard drive by a wide margin. Nearly any SSD will offer an excellent boost!

I use it as a boot and cache drive for graphics work and the increase in speeds and responsiveness are very obvious -- especially in Photoshop and Lightroom. The overall usability and responsiveness of the machine, with just this SSD upgrade, is more noticeable than when i upgraded the entire machine from a Toledo and a 74gb Raptor. There has been no stuttering issues whatsoever.

The 4 series does use the newer JMicron controller, so no stuttering. And it supports TRIM.

I made up a quick PDF of the rebate and added forms to make it easier and legible.. My handwriting isn't that great.. Is there a way to attach or is there any interest in something like that here..

Installed this little fella with win7 and it's incredibly fast (my first SSD). Photoshop opens before I even click on it. THE DRIVE IS PSYCHIC.

Nice deal OP! Just wish it didn't use a JMicron controller 🙁

That's like saying, "The Ford Fusion is a great car, but just wish it didn't come from the company that brought us the Pinto."

These new controllers have quadruple the cache of the old ones, plus support Trim. Don't know if the 64GB version is much different from the 30GB version, but Anand hammered the drive with software and it never exhibited the stuttering issues of the old Jmicron based drives.

Why is that an issue anyway? That's not the first time I've heard that J Micron stuff...
