Hey guys, I have a freaking sweeeeeeeeeet deal on 2 512 MB sticks of Kingston PC4000 sticks for 90 each, retail sealed. My question is, does anyone have first-hand experience with this ram? I am going to be running a 2500+ in an Abit NF7-S 2.0 mobo, and I want to get the FSB as high as I can, and get at least a 3200+ speed out of the proc. In the new issue of Maximum PC, this RAM got a freaking dang good recommendation as it achieved a 526 Mhz FSB in their "Fastest Memory Test". Should I go for it? LMK ASAP, Thanks guys!

90 a stick is a no brainer....

Depends on what stepping of barton you have, what kinda cooling you will be running. If you can get to 240+ then it's worth it.

Yeah really depends on your processor. Id say the average overclock of the 2500 is a 200 mhz fsb. If that is what you get you would be better suited for regular ddr 400 as you could run it at lower timings. Seems pretty unlikely you will get all the way up to 250 fsb on a barton unless you are using some crazy cooling, but for 90 bucks thats pretty damn cheap.

The consenses on AMD athlons and FSB is a limit around 215MHz, it depends on the chip itself... but havent seen too many running 230+ FSB. Bartons have a similar core architecture plus additional cache (so would expect similar FSB performance)

So PC4000 might not change overall performance. Though at 90.00, that'a an easy call ;)

Seems like this ram does not like tight timings even at low speeds... just because it is rated at DDR500... it will not do 200 with the tightest timings. :( It will do the advertised speed at the advertised timings though... but i don't think my barton would reach 250FSB... :D
