I have always used Crucial. How does this memory compare to Crucial anyway? Can you overclock very well using this? or is it closer to Generic type memory?

This doesn't seem like a deal to me. I have been looking hard for some PC2700 for my new 4550 and the prices are consistently in the $145 range. You can get Samsung ram for the same price. Just have a look at pricewatch. If someone can find a way to get it for $20 less, then we would have a deal.

Where can you get SAMSUNG ram for ~$145?? I'm talking about GENIUNE samsung stuff...both PCB and memory chips. Usually, it is the Samsung chips on a third part PCB, which is crap.

Hmmm not sure if this is such a great deal. Could be good if this stuff overclocks as well as Crucial or Corsair XMS.

I have some problem with this memory on my brand new Abit SR7-8x (SIS 648). but the other one I get from Frys has no problem. I even run that on PC2100 spec

hope better luck for other people

Crucial's probably better, but for average users who don't overclock, there's probably no problem with Kingston. Besides, you shouldn't get C2.5 chips anyway if you OC. So I'll save the money if I don't OC.

Damn, I picked up a new 512mb stick of SamSung for $123.75 plus $5.00 shipping about 3 weeks ago. I just can't remember what site I bought it from. It turned out to be great ram and really boosted my Dell 4550. If I find invoice I will post site.

i just bought a 512 stick of this ram from googlegear.com and it works fine in my dimension 4550. i went with kingston after having two sticks of crucial pc2100 go bad on me in the last two months (in seperate systems). i am sure the crucial was a fluke, it just seemed like a good reason to change =)

both kingston and crucial have excellent customer service and memory. while this might not be the hottest deal out there, it is very much a solid product and a good buy. also, you do not have to worry about having someone to call IF the ram does go bad. kingston should always be there for any forseeable future.

I just received a stick of Simpletech 512mb PC 2700 DDR from Newegg. I purchased it 3 days ago for $138. It seems they bumped the price to $152 now but the nice thing is that it has genuine Samsung chips. I have not tried to overclock it yet but put it in my Dell 4550 from the last deal and it runs fine. $138 was the lowest price I could find from a "real" merchant and as always Newegg came through!

BUMP!

For an AWESOME deal (by today's RAM price standards)

For anybody who says Kingston's PC2700 doesn't overclock well, I can tell you from first-hand experience that Kingston's PC2700 will allow you to overclock your pants off.

If you're interested in buying new RAM, and are lamenting over not being able to afford Corsair's XMS RAM, please note that Kingston uses the SAME Winbond BH-6 chips used on Corsair's XMS3200 RAM. Only difference is that Corsair has already tested the RAM for you to make sure it works at 200MHz, and they include a copper heatspreader.

I had a stick of Kingston's PC2700 running at 375MHz CAS 2, without any problems (or heatspreaders for that matter) others (visit Overclockers.com's forums) have reached 400MHz DDR operation.

If this stick were still $20 cheaper, this would be flaming hot, but for $145 and $144.50 (at GoogleGear) this is still a great deal.

BUMP!
