Does anyone have any experience overclocking with this RAM? The Kingston website claims that it runs stable at 160+ Mhz FSB! Would it be worth to to get this RAM or stick with Mushkin and Micron, who only claims 150 Mhz FSB.
Crucial 7E(cas2 stuff) and Mosel Vitalic REv.2 will both do 160, but at Cas3. They max cas2 around 150-155. I do not believe that the kingmax can get that high of an fsb while still at cas 2.
KingMax made a big PR splash in 1999 about their TinyBGA chips. It promised higher performance at lower cost. There were press release and featured articles in all major electronics trade publications.
The reality is: In retail channel, the KingMax PC133 is selling at or above other major brand price until most recently. Now, the KingMax retail price is much more competitive.
I purchased two 128MB PC133 (several months ago) which the vendor said to be CAS2. As it turned out, the SPD is programmed for CAS2 at 100 MHz FSB and CAS3 at 133 MHz FSB. Performance wise, the KingMax is very good, but not exceptional. It has no problem running at 142 MHz, CAS2. It puts it at the same class as Infineon PC133/C3, Micron PC133/C2. But not as good as the Mosel Vitellic or Corsair PC133/C2. It will probably run higher at CAS3, but my P3-700 does not cooperate.
I believe that the 160+ FSB review at the KingMax web site is for the PC-150 only.
I have the KingMax PC133 version 1.2. An review from Australia reported that the version 1.2 is better than the older v. 1.1. Review
