What's interesting, is the TBW spec for these drives. It's 345TB for the 120GB, and almost double that for the 240GB.

Contrast with the Crucial M500 120GB, which is only specced for 72TB TBW.

Edit: Forgot to mention, this is a 48-hour sale, that ends 2/7 at midnight PST.

No takers? Is this because of the V300 debacle? (Switching Toggle for Async NAND.)

They specifically spec. Sync NAND for these drives.

Yup, based on principle.

Then I hope that neither of you purchase WD HDDs, because they pulled the same thing, chaging their 1TB Black drives from the original high-performance model, to a simply re-labeled Blue drive with an extended warranty.

And I hope that you don't buy Samsung SSDs either, seeing as how they abandoned 840 owners and left them high and dry, over their TLC NAND "slow data" issues.

Ironically, even with Async MLC NAND, a Kingston V300 is a better performer than a six-month-old Samsung 840.

Edit: Not to mention, PNY has changed controllers and NAND in their cheaper Optima SSD line, as did Silicon Power in their S60 model SSDs.

^I know about all of this.

I don't buy WD Black drives. They're ridiculously overpriced for what you get.

I don't buy Samsung Evo SSDs because I prefer MLC NAND.

I'm aware that both PNY and Silicon Power have pulled a Kingston-style bait and switch with their SSDs, so I won't buy their crap, either.
