Kingston HyperX 3K Freezing

Hi There,
I've recently purchased a Kingston HyperX 3K SSD 120GB and I've been facing freezing issues. When it happens my whole system will freeze for either 20s-1min. Is this a well known issue? Ive heard that this is because of the Sandforce controller.

Your issue is probably marginal, but googling does reveal some other people have it as well. If you can just RMA with Kingston you're more than likely to get a working drive

Really? I couldnt find anyone having a problem with the drive. Im a bit skeptical now because of this.

Guys, I just got the most BullShit response from the so called "technical help" team. I am admittedly running the SSD on a SATA-II board with no ACHl support. Their response was that my desktop simply doesn't support an SSD. WTF? Running it in IDE mode is perfectly fine isn't it? TRIM is of no use to me and I forgot the other option but I'm pretty sure that was useless to me as well.
Please tell me that that person was wrong.

That person is wrong and is simply looking for an escape goat.

I've upgraded a few old machines with an SSD which have no AHCI support and the BIOS is in IDE mode and they work fine.

Incidentally, TRIM is not dependant on AHCI, TRIM will work in IDE mode too with the correct combination of OS and drivers. AHCI is just a faster method.

Check to see if your BIOS has the option for your SATA drives to be in 'Hot Swap' mode on your motherboard. It's probably under the advanced settings. Switch it to Hot Swap just for your SSDs. Also, check your settings for C3 and C6 reporting. If they are set to enabled or automatic - set them to disabled instead. See if that cures your issues.

Believe it or not - The best (or most stable) place for my OCZ Vertex III is in a SATA I laptop in IDE mode. Have never had an issue with it since.

Did a quick Google search (arent many problems like this) and it does seem that Kingston SSDs have trouble with the 650i chipset. Fucking bollocks. Now im gunna have to wait to upgrade my whole rig. D:

Actually its not (only) intel problem. I ordered two 120gb SSDnow v+ 200. Another is in my main computer which is intel and another is in my wifes laptop. Laptop is the unfortunant one, it freezes sometimes like pictured before. Laptop is AMD Trinity. Im looking for help too.

That would explain it. The Nvidia 650 chipset's sata controller has it's fair share of issues. It's not Kingston's fault and you would probably get the same results with a Samsung or Crucial drive.
