It's true that it's not working properly on 5.0.2 (and possibly other 5.0.x as well). I'm still trying to figure out the nature of what's broken (for some reason, it's read speed that is not fully restored when TRIMed).
On my Mushkin Chronos Deluxe 240GB SSD, it was said that doing a secure erase resets the drive to factory specs. Clearly, from my experiences, this is not true. It completes almost immediately, without TRIMming or cleaning the NAND. It seems to simply throw away the AES hardware encryption key and re-generate a new one. It doesn't seem to fix written/unwritten blocks, or screwed up mappings.
Mine finally died completely 70% through an NTFS full format. Undetectable on any rig after that.
Before I did that though, it was throwing SMART errors on boot.
Shipped with newest Mushkin firmware. Pretty sure it was 5.0.2.
