No comparison--Kingston is much better than the other stuff.

Hardcorecooling.com is a fine reseller, but the RAM in question pales in comparison to the Kingston HyperX.

Man, i swear outpost sucks at displaying the right price and rebates. The item shows 159-20 (MIR) = 139.

The posted rebate is only valid from 10-29-04 to 11-02-04. Watch out, outpost has repeatedly done this kind of tactic before. The outpost CSR will tell you that the rebate company will approve the rebate but if you call the rebate company they will deny your rebate.

The Specs linked by Smoking Gunn are 2-2-2-6-1 @ 2.6V but Kingston lists this RAM a discontinued model, the new model KHX3200AK2/1G ('A' in the model number) has the stats of 2-3-2-6-1 like Outpost lists. So it may be this newer model.

It seems like it would still be a decent deal without the rebate, am I correct in thinking this?

Also the rebate says it's for Kingston ValueRAM, model numbers listed are KHX3200AK1/1G & KHX3200AK1/1GR

What to do...

Now the dates on the rebate have been updated, but there are still the contradictions regarding whether it applies to ValueRam or HyperX. The model numbers are certainly for the HyperX.

I was one of many who got burned on a single stick of this stuff--it was refurbished, altered, and defective. However, if Outpost has run out of that crap, maybe...

Have I learned my lesson?

Cherub what ended up happening with the stick you got? Did you just keep it or send it back to Outpost.

I'm thinking about taking the gamble on this and if the stuff is no good can I just RMA it directly to Kingston since it has the lifetime warranty. I figure it be better dealing with them then Outpost, which isn't listed under Kingston's 'Where to Buy' list. Course then again they list TigerDirect.

So will it be more hassle then it's worth for this stuff? Gonna have to decide this weekend.

it should be the new "A" stuff. I called them a few days ago about this when it was on back order and they told me they'll be getting in more in a day or so.

Here we go again! More shenanigans. The rebate is for the "A" part numbers and Outpost is listing the non "A" parts on the page! And the price comes up in the cart as $189.

BUT!

The sales rep says they are fixing the price. It is $159 and they are the 3200K2 (non "A"parts. But he says those parts work with the rebate and if it doesn't, they will credit me with the $20. So, fool that I am, I orderred them.

I guess I probably should buy a motherboard and processor ASAP if I actually expect to use these sticks!

The price is $190 when added to the cart. So is outpost going to fix this or not?

I called today and they gave me the $159.99 price and said the rebate was good. They also have 1GB of the value ram for 159.99 plus a $40 rebate so hopefully they can tell the difference between the two and don't send me the Value.

Anyone know if the HyperX works well with A64 chips?

I called Kingston regarding the rebate, and actually spoke with the lady that makes them. She said that it was a mistake that the rebate read VALUERAM, but it is indeed valid and they WILL honor it.

Clicking the link now displays the price of $189.99

Just called to see if they could give it to me for $159.99 and said once the price is updated on the page they cannot do anything about it. Looks like I missed out by about 3 hours or so =(

I got in on the last outpost HyperX deal for $90 - $10 rebate, and even though some people complained of getting refurbished, I got a brand new A model, which is just awesome, running 2-2-2-5 @ DDR333 with a mobo that is very picky about RAM. I'm defietely gettting HyperX for my next build.
