Kingston 1GB PC3200 400 MHz 2x512MB $70 AR

I've owned a couple sticks of this stuff at one time, and it was able to do 2.5-3-3-x fine. In fact, I owned PC2700 C2.5 Kingston that was able to do PC3200 C2.5.

I think it's rating of CAS3 is pretty conservative, though I wouldn't expect it to overlcock well otherwise (it'll probably crap out in the 208-215 range or so at any CAS). The stuff I had would overclock pretty much the same at C3 as C2.5, and wasn't affected all that much by voltage either.

It ended up performing about the same as my Mushkin value RAM that was rated CAS 2.5.

Link on site says call for availability - so you may want to do so first. I own both this and the Corsair. While not a memory expert, the Corsair seems better in my system (a Shuttle SB61G2V2.)

If you live in California - and if the $84 Corsair price is still good at Monarch - you may want to go with them; no tax and shipping at Monarch means the price difference between the two will be close and you won't have to wait for a check.

My 2c.

Edit: figure out what you may save with the Kingston rebate - it may be worth it to you to do the rebate if you can pick this up in store. I myself am not a big rebate fan, unless the price difference is significant.

I have had some Kingston Value Ram PC2700 that have been able to OC to 230Mhz FSB before. That was a while ago, I dont think they use those ram chips anymore, I recall they were Hynix chips.

Could be hot, if you don't have to pay sales tax. For me, ~$7 shipping, and 8.25% tax, makes it $85+ after rebate. Rather just get $82 Corsair. Thanks for the post, tho! 🙂
