I'm right at the start of the game, doing the three trials, on the third door where you have to find some armor (and kill some spiders). I can not find this armor anywhere, I've walked all over the area for like ten minutes clicking everything, it just isn't there. Looked for a strategy guide or walkthrough, couldn't find anything.

Also, anyone got tips for someone starting out in this game, strategies or whatnot?

you need to move around, and sometimes you will see some shimmering near your character. You then need to dig, which you do by pressing "D" or click the icon next to the minimap.

first of all let me just say that this is the best game of 2008 for me. i loved every minute of it. its so much fun and i recommend every TBS/RPG player to get it.

as for yuor question, biostud got it right. you need to dig by pressing D. just click on the ground everywhere and as you move press D.

as for the game, pick a strategy and stick with it. get the most out of your artifacts, get as much leadership as you can, always try to win battles without casualties as some creatures will run out if you keep buying them.
dont be ashamed to make creature runs if some of them do die on you. just go and get new creatures.
also, in this game the mobs chase you so use that to your advantage. if a mob is guarding something or blocking your way make it chase you in a circle and when its behind you just run forward. you always run faster than any mob so its not a problem.

if you reach an area that too hard for you just go and do more sidequests. eventually you get strong enough to take on anything. going into a new area is always difficult because you need to learn the different styles of gameplay for each zone. ("forest creatuers are vulnerable to fire...but demons are immune to fire! what do you want from me!?!?")

dragons pwn. end of story.

enjoy!

I'm loving the game as well. FUN and very adictive. It's the type of game that you play for 8 hours straight without realizing it.

Tell me about it, I honestly dunno what happened to the last 6 hours, every time I looked at the clock it was an hour later and I was like wtf, cus I gotta work tmrw.

I have a question though, is there anyway to increase combat speed/combat animation speed? I played HOMM3 a lot back in the day and you could increase it to near instant speeds, and combat in King's feels very slow by comparison. It's very good, it just needs a speed boost. Anybody know? Doesn't look to be in the options, maybe there is a mod/patch?
