Yesterday I was looking at my Steam game library and saw King's Bounty: LEgen and Armored Princess. They were not installed yet. I bought the Gold Edition (or something like that) for like 10$ when Steam got a huge sale around christmas time.

I tried it during lunch and this game looks really fun! I started a Warrior and just did the trial.

Anyways, I think this game gonna steal some real life time soon!

Any tips or advices?

Get a wife as soon as you can, you can dump her later for another one if you want, but they add some special attributes to you and can carry 4 items to equip.

Just because you can have an army of 300 archers doesn't mean they will be better then an army of 20you bears (just a random example) but a lot of those cheap and/or high number of units you can have doesn't mean it is worth using them over something more powerful (I love polar bears).

You don't need to worry about Rage till you pandoras box.

Can't remember a lot of things but I did love the game very much, Steam says I spent 78 hours playing it lol.

EDIT: KB:TL - 42 hours, KB:AP - 92 hours... I have a love/hate relationship with Steam when it tells me stats like that :)

Certain friiendly castles allow you to store units inside them to swap into and out of your team as and when.

The real time system allows you to 'kite' mobs out of position and collect the items they were guarding without engaging. Useful if you want to nab them

Golden nugget of info: The game uses a rotation system with it's quicksaves. It has 3 quicksave slots which is automatically rotates through, replacing the oldest every time you quicksave. This means that if you quicksave and make a major boo-boo, you can go back to Quicksave #2 or Quicksave #3.

I hope that no-one gives you game breaking tips like certain unit and spell types/combinations. These games can be completed on Impossible difficulty and incurring a total of ZERO losses involving certain spell and unit combinations and judicious use of the 'quicksave' and 'quick load' features.

AP is better than TL in my opinion but you definately want to play TL first. AP follows on from TL and although you wouldn't be lost if you should skip it, you miss certain unique things that TL included and going back from AP to TL is painful.

Play an easy game first and figure out how everything works. When you learn how to balance equipment and armies, the game can be relatively easy. Also, make sure to search thoroughly for quests, hidden chests and such. Theres all kinds of goodies laying around in otherwise mundane locations. And many provide useful gold, essential XP, and awesome creatures to recruit.

Do every quest and kill every troop. You need a good mix of ranged and melee. It's always good to change out troops depending on who you are fighting as some troops have weaknesses. Also try not to decimate moral so no undead and humans; or elves and dwarfs in a group.

Its good to have 1 group as cannon fodder, when they are unlimited to buy at some castles. I.e. Peasants to start then soldiers then knights, etc. Try to have 2 ranged always and then mix up the remaining 2 between melee and ranged. It's also good to have 1 of the troops be a specialty troop such as mages to start and then dragons, or cyclops, troll, giants, etc. Make sure the troops you use match the type of character and equipment you are. If you went all human troops and had the proper relics your morale will give great bonuses.

Loved those games. Had lots of fun playing them. There's another game coming soon which looks the same again. But hey, why fix something that's not broken.

I almost finished the starting area when you exit the "tutorial". A little repetitive but still great fun.

How does morale works exactly?
9mak9 you mentionned not mixing races is not a good thing...yesterday I got the Skeleton archers in my team, coupled with human soldiers, archers, priests and peasants...is that a bad thing?

Demons and Undead (and certain monster combinations, Emerald Dragons & Giants) can negatively affect Morale.

Negative morale can reduce Initiative (how soon that unit takes their turn), Damage dealt, Damage received and a couple of other modifiers.

Positive morale can be achieved and can do the opposite, providing positive benefits to your troops.

Check the bar below the creature image. It will show a face and a number. The number indicating the number of monsters in that stack, the face indicating the morale level. I think you can hover over the face to check the morale, modifiers and units/items affecting that units morale.

Typically it doesn't play a huge part in the game but it can be very useful if used in conjunction with certain units/spells/character skills.

A nice thanks for the info!

I just hope the combats will "evolve" a bit soon cause for now it's mainly Thorns, wolves and the like. I hope there's lots of bosses to fight too!

There are two tiers of boss fights - there are named mobs that are essentially minibosses: they have typically larger numbers of troops and add an enemy spellcaster. They're relatively common.

Similar to the named mobs in difficulty, some items can be upgraded by fighting their 'keepers', which add gremlins in towers to the fight in stead of a spellcaster.

Then there are the bigger boss fights, with only a handful per game.

Personally I've beaten TL and am at the last fight of AP and have (almost) given up on that last fight, at least for this playthrough. I've played heavy caster types both games and enjoyed it, but I think caster types can be a little weaker against big bosses. Then again, that's just a theory :p

These games are a blast, I'm playing AP right now.

And yeah, the combat and foes you face will change a great deal before you're done. Soon you'll be up against Succubi, dragons, necromancers, etc etc.
