I have a stick of kingmax ram (DDR-333 / 1gb) that was removed from my Powerbook by an apple tech about a year ago. The Powerbook had suddenly experienced an error and refused to re-boot. I sent it in to them having little clue what the problem was (had 2 1gb sticks of ram in it at the time). They sent it back and let me know that the kingmax ram which I had in the system had failed (it worked just fine with a stick of the original 256mb and the other 1gb stick that I had in there - which is what I'm currently running). The ram had been in the system for over two years (basically since I purchased it in the summer of 2004).
Here is the thing, the failure occurred in the summer of 2006. At the time, I was using my powerbook heavily and I filled out RMA requests and sent e-mails to kingmax (through the form and addresses provided on their site) but never got any response. For other reasons, I started using my desktop a bit more heavily, and I "forgot" about the whole ram situation. In any case, I've now started using my mac a lot more, and I would love to have 2gb of system memory again. I've filled out the RMA form/e-mailed kingmax again, but I don't have high hopes. I was wondering if anyone else here has had an experience with them that ended favorably (and could give me some information about how they did it). I'd love to have the extra ram, but I don't see myself spending $100 on a new stick at the current time (wish it was DDR2, as my budget just dropped significantly after that 40" LCD + HD-DVD player purchase).
