Kingmax PC3700 Timings Question

Bought a couple of cheap Kingmax PC3700 (466mhz) 512 meg sticks (TSOP) from New Egg for $86 each. No reviews, took a chance because of low price.

They are rated at CAS 3. My K8N Neo Platinum with Athlon 64 3200+ (Clawhammer) on auto settings sees them as 3-4-8 timing. (Don't know what the last timing setting is, doesn't show it, at boot) but it's set to auto in the bios.

However, I can run this memory at PC3200 (400mhz) and be stable at CAS 2 (2-3-3-Auto).

That seems pretty good to me.

If I don't overclock (or only do mild overclocking), is it better for me to stay at PC3200 with these good timings, or should I loosen the timings to speed up to PC3700?

I've read that good timings are better than clock speed for my Athlon 64. What should I do?

The only way to really know is to test it yourself. In the intel world, it's about a 15-20 MHz increase in RAM speed that can compensate for the drop in CAS. But even that is probably application dependent. The only way to know for sure is to run some benchies.

Checked my "auto" setting and changed it to 6.

So now I'm running this memory at 2-3-3-6 at PC3200

I'm a happy camper, especially for this price.
