Ermm, people were around 5'8", really depending on diet and genetics. The Egyptians were semitic, so they'd be around that height. King Tut was 19, and everyone is different, so it's hard to say.

EDIT: According to wikipedia, I am wrong. I wanted to see how tall Ramses II was and he was 5'7", which according to wikipedia and a source sited was "above average height."

So I stand corrected, but very interesting.


EDIT #2: I was thinking of the ancient greeks, whose average was actually 5'8", especially in the Archaic-early Classical period in Greece. So those Spaaaaartans would be around 5'8".
