King of Comedy vs. Gangs of NY

now, as far as i know, The King of Comedy won no awards, but Gangs did. It seems strange to me, becuase King of Comedy seems like a far better movie...(generally, i like it more but im specifically talking about the direction here)
i heard a lot of talk that Gangs won becuase "it was about time"....does anyone else feel that the idea of awarding this movie a prize becuase of better, earlier work is absurd? (this implies, of course, that the rumor would be true)

The Kings of Comedy isn't really a "movie" persay. It's pretty much standup routines with some quasi-documentary footage thrown in. Gangs of New York on the other hand sucks. 😀

KingS of Comedy was okay, whereas the opinions on Stephen Chow's King of Comedy are very mixed...depends on how well you are accustomed to HK movies. 🙂
