man!!! It was all worth it to see kong crush that rex's jaw and play with it. That's the reason I went to see the movie duh.

pros:
I liked it, made Kong very likeable. Made me feel sad about his death.
Didn't feel that drawn out, I thought everything fit.
the creatures were amazing, the bugs looked very scary and realistic.

cons:
Some parts did look awful though, when they were running with the dinosaurs and then the cliff falling apart looked like something out of the 80s.
Why some T-Rex want to chase a girl thats all skin and bones when he's got a huge chunk of meat in his mouth? Same thing with the little raptors when they got a huge pile of Brontosaurus to eat, they go chasing after the humans?

fvckin' amazing movie, i can't even begin to comprehend how people on this board weren't blown away by it. I didn't think it was a minute too long.

you know what was cool, you could see Kong die in his eyes. that's pretty impressive for an animated character.

I wanted more kong action sequences with more creatures, like the Rex's.


Kong's face had so many layers of animation in it, unlike anything I have ever seen before. Great job Industrial Light and Magic!

a) a 30's english accent? The movie's set in America, genius (with American characters). People didn't talk that different 60-70 years ago.

b) More creatures? That was half the problem with the movie, there was too much at once! It was like sensory overload...only so many CG creatures one can digest at a time.

c) Yeah, Kong (and the other creatures, despite there being too many of them) were all damned impressive looking.

d) I'm sorry, I thought the movie was terrible. Too damn long-there were action scenes constantly, neverending stream to the point where you just don't really care anymore, and each of these scences went ON AND ON AND ON FOREVER. An hour and a half movie turned into 3 hrs, 7 minutes. Furthermore, (and yes, i recognize here that it's a fantasy movie) I just couldn't buy the plot. Obviously, a giant ape from "skull island" is not the part I'm referring to; I'm speaking about the characters' behavior, the sentiments of Kong, the reactions by people to certain events. I just all seemed ridiculous to me.

Oh well, 3 am. Time for bed.

EDIT-with reference to (b) and (d), my friend whom I saw the movie with described it perfectly: "It's just non-stop intensity, almost annoyingly so. It's like there's someone sitting next to you in the theater, just screaming his fscking head off at you for several hours."

I meant 30's AMERICAN accent. PPl did talk differently in the 30's.

Just asked my grandfather about that one. His response: "not really." Maybe slang was different, but an accent? Don't think so. Just because Humphrey Bogart spoke a certain way in his movies doesn't mean that it was commonplace.

i swear i am so glad that i am not so picky like 95% of ATOT, and that I can enjoy a movie for the way its supposed to be enjoyed, and not nit-pick at every part of the movie that is "not believable" or inconsistent ...

A movie doesn't have to be accurate to a tee for me to enjoy it, it's always been the concept or bigger idea that counts. What I meant is that I don't like the "bigger concept" in this movie. Nearly everything about it just failed to draw me in. Doesn't make me a "nit-picky fsck" as you so eloquently put it. It's just a movie, and one that you had nothing to do with making AFAIK. No need to get all defensive over someone's opinion of it.

1. Kong's arms should've ripped off when T-rex's bit into them the first time. He took it like they were mosquito bites.

2. The T-rex vs. Kong fight scene reminded me of Beauty and the Beast (because I never saw the original King Kong).

3. If it was that cold out, that a frozen pond could support a 10 ton gorilla, the chick should've frozen her nipples off :D

overall I liked it- but some parts were painfully corney and sappy to the point that as hard as I tried I couldnt help but groan...my GF at times was like "isnt that really lame they're sayin that stuff?" and all I could do was shrug...
overall though the movie was pretty amazing.

just look at how naomi watts spoke, and then jack black. What about a NY accent? Where the hell was that?

I didn't like the movie much. Everything besides kong and the other creatures was just junk. I didn't really like any of the actors to be honest, i do like Jack Black, but he was very misscasted in my opinion. Naomi Watts did a good job...but there's just something i don't like about her :p - Adrien Brody is ok, just kinda weird looking. Thought the first hour of the movie was really bad, and a lot of the other scenes were as well. I liked King Kong a lot though, and he's the star of the show, so i can't be too disappointed i guess. 3 out of 4 stars.
